Agrimark Franschhoek: a partner for the entire valley – from vineyards to workshops

Posted on: 21 April 2026 Written by: Danie Keet

Agrimark Services

There is one key factor behind Agrimark Franschhoek’s success and its ability to consistently deliver excellent service: a genuine passion for what they do. Every staff member is deeply committed to the business and the service they provide — whether it’s selling a flea collar for a beloved pet or delivering bulk diesel to a producer’s farm. Whatever the task, it is done with pride and dedication.

Bradley Smith, a seasoned Agrimark team member and manager of Agrimark Franschhoek for the past two years, shares his insights.

Located in the heart of what could be called a swallow’s paradise — not referring to birds, but rather the many international visitors who settle here, even if only for part of the year — Agrimark Franschhoek has become a trusted stop for all their needs as well.

However, Franschhoek is far more than a destination for international investors. While it is best known as a tourist town, the valley is also home to some of South Africa’s most successful plum and wine grape producers. Many farms cultivate herbs such as lavender, rosemary and mint, and there is a growing focus on fynbos species, particularly proteas.

“We’re planning to supply packaging materials for protea exporters in the near future,” Bradley says proudly. “This is an agricultural sector that continues to grow, especially on farms located higher up the mountain slopes surrounding Franschhoek.”

With 18 years of experience in the Boland agricultural sector, Bradley knows the industry well. A man of few words, he believes that action speaks louder than talk. Having completed training stints in Worcester and Stellenbosch, he knows Agrimark’s processes inside and out. Bradley firmly believes that the company’s success lies in building and maintaining strong relationships with producers, suppliers and customers — supported by an equally passionate team.

Tertius Hanekom, marketer at Agrimark Franschhoek, emphasises the store’s strong agricultural focus and its ability to offer a comprehensive range of products and services to local producers.

“Whether a producer grows wine grapes, plums, apples or apricots, we can supply everything needed above ground,” he explains. “We also offer products for soil preparation and maintenance, allowing producers to source everything in one place. In addition, our nursery stocks flowering plants, shrubs, vegetable seedlings and herbs, which are very popular with residents and even restaurants that grow their own fresh produce. When needed, we can also involve technical specialists to provide expert advice.”

According to Tertius, there is renewed interest in protective netting for fruit producers.

“Wind and sun cause significant damage, and with rising input costs, producers are increasingly choosing netting to protect their crops. We supply all materials and equipment required — from poles and anchor wires to the nets themselves. Agrimark also offers a specialist project management service that oversees the entire netting project, including planning, implementation and maintenance. This service brings together engineers, contractors and suppliers through a single point of contact, ensuring best-practice standards are applied.”

Ashlon Roos is in charge of the Garden Zone

He adds that Agrimark Franschhoek supplies virtually everything required for planting, cultivation and farm maintenance.

“We stock cleaning products for cellars and packhouses, protective clothing for farm workers, spare parts for agricultural implements — from ploughs to tractors — as well as paint for guesthouses and restaurants. Behind the store, there is also a yard where we keep poles, sand, cement, bricks, fencing wire and other building materials.”

Phillip Munnick, maintenance manager at Fleur de Lis retirement home in Franschhoek, is a regular customer and speaks highly of Agrimark Franschhoek’s service.

“We purchase from Agrimark regularly and are extremely satisfied with the service,” he says. “There’s always something that needs attention at a retirement home. We buy various chemicals and herbicides for garden maintenance, as well as paint and all our toilet paper from them. Our staff wear clothing supplied by Agrimark, and its durability has proven itself time and again. The staff are always willing to go the extra mile — they even supplied diesel for our generator during load shedding.”

Bradley explains that the store has recently been revamped, with shelves repositioned to create more space — a change customers have welcomed, as it makes shopping more convenient.

“The Jonsson Workwear section has been expanded, and the Ingco power tool range is now easily accessible. And of course, our team is always nearby to help customers find exactly what they’re looking for.”

Staff members specialise in specific departments. Michael manages the paint mixing station and keeps records of customers’ colour choices, making it easy to recreate the same shade years later. Ashlon Roos oversees the garden department.

“He truly has a passion for gardening and is highly sought after by Franschhoek residents for advice,” Bradley notes.

The outdoor living section continues to grow in popularity. In addition to swimming pool and plumbing products, the store also stocks fridges, stoves and a wide range of household items. Whether you’re a producer, a cellar manager or a local resident, almost anything you might need can be found here.

Francois Siebrits from Keerweder Farm highlights the strong relationship they have with Agrimark Franschhoek, particularly the recent support they received while preparing to install protective netting in their orchards.

“Being able to source everything we need from one place makes our lives much easier and allows us to focus on running our business,” he says.

Adjacent to the store are the fuel station, the Expressmark convenience store and Agrimark Tyre & Fitment. Grant du Toit manages the tyre division and firmly believes that customer satisfaction is key to success.

The forecourt and Expressmark are open 24 hours a day

“Customers should leave here smiling, knowing their tyre issues have been resolved,” he says. “We offer wheel alignment, tyre replacements and puncture repairs. We also stock essential items such as car and truck batteries and windscreen wipers — and we even travel out to farms to assist customers on-site.”

Anda Mpetshini manages the 13 staff members at Expressmark, as well as the forecourt, which operates 24 hours a day. The store offers a range of snacks, cold drinks, sweets and expertly made coffee prepared by one of their baristas.

Because here, everyone works with passion.
