Agrimark pledged to donate one litre of water for every new Instagram follower during a social media campaign last year – and the response was overwhelming.
Thanks to this support, Ashbury Primary School in Montagu is the proud recipient of three fully installed JoJo tanks, each filled with safe, drinkable water. The new tanks, complete with filtration systems, will also enable the school to harvest rainwater for future sustainability.
The need for clean water at Ashbury Primary was brought to Agrimark’s attention by arol Bruton, Chairperson of RAM Charity Projects, who travelled from Cape Town to supply the school with drinking water on multiple occasions.
Agrimark mobilised its network to find solutions. Agrimark supplier, PPC, joined the effort during the installation phase, generously donating the cement needed to construct the concrete slab on which the JoJo tanks were mounted.

The team that drove the project to completion are from left to right: Conway Wyngaard, Senior Trade Clerk: Agrimark Montagu; Franco Engelbrecht, Country Districts Sales Consultant: PPC; Taasha Thorne, CSI Officer: Agrimark; Anelma Johnson, Principal: Ashbury Primary; Peter Max, Area Manager: PPC; Michael Pekeur, Vice Principal: Ashbury Primary; and Cedrico Rhode, Agrimark Regional Manager: Breede River.
On 18 March, the official handover of the tanks took place in Montagu. Agrimark representatives, including Conway Wyngaard, Trade Clerk: Agrimark Montagu, the PPC team, members of the school governing body, and teachers attended the event. Conway played a crucial role in coordinating the installation of the JoJo tanks, helping to ensure a successful project. “It was a great honour to help make a difference in our community. I look forward to the positive impact this will have on the learners,” he says.
School principal Anelma Johnson expressed her gratitude, highlighting this donation’s profound impact on the school. “Having access to a reliable water source on our premises will make a world of difference to our learners and staff. Clean water is essential for learning, hygiene, and overall well-being. We are incredibly grateful to Agrimark and their partners for stepping in and providing a sustainable solution to a challenge we have faced for years.”

Tasneem Sulaiman-Bray, Director: Corporate Affairs at Agrimark Operations, emphasises the power of collective efforts in community projects. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this possible – from PPC for their generous donation, to RAM Charity Projects for their continued support of the school, and to every member of our social media community who helped spread the word and rally support. Access to water is a basic human right, and thanks to this collaboration, the learners of Ashbury Primary can now look forward to enjoying clean, drinkable water every day.”
