Thanks to the unwavering support of its suppliers, Kaap Agri hosted its 11th annual fundraiser Golf Day. Together, we managed to secure R100 000 in aid of Gift of the Givers’ drive towards renovating inadequate sanitation facilities in poor rural schools.
“Many schools in South Africa continue to be challenged by a lack of infrastructure, insufficient space, and no clean and safe bathroom facilities. This collaboration will help restore the dignity of learners and teachers in rural communities,” says Kaap Agri’s Sustainability Manager, Barend Sulvester.
According to the South African Human Rights Commission, more than 3 000 schools in South Africa still use pit latrines. There are 380 schools in South Africa with no water.
“We are grateful for Kaap Agri’s contribution towards creating safe and dignified ablution facilities for our children and teachers in rural communities. It is thanks to generous donations such as this that we are able to do the work that we do and do good wherever there is a need,” says Ali Sablay, Gift of the Givers Representative. Kaap Agri’s annual Supplier Golf Day is aligned with the company’s corporate social investment focus of supporting the education of vulnerable children in underserved regions in which we operate.
“Our Golf Day is always well-supported by our business partners and brings together top suppliers across the agri trade and retail landscape. It’s an opportunity for friendly competitiveness and networking, and a platform to raise awareness of the challenges the communities face in which we operate.
We’re always very grateful for this level of support in our community initiatives,” says Sean Walsh, Kaap Agri CEO.
